In this article I review four good diet plans, recommend one and give you important information on the low carb diet plan, the protien diet plan, the low fat diet plan and more.</p>
<p><strong>Weight Loss Diet Plan #1 &#8211; Adkins Diet</strong>: Considered a high protien diet, the Adkins Diet is the most famous of all diets ever.&nbsp; Created by cardiologist Dr. Robert Adkins, initially intended as a fast-weight loss diet for his patients who needed heart surgery but were too over weight to survive the operation&hellip; so Dr. Adkins designed a diet to help them lose a lot of weight fast&nbsp;so they&nbsp;could&nbsp;survive the surgery.</p>
<p>The diet was so effective at producing a fast drop in weight, it gained nationwide recognition and Dr. Adkins became known more for his weight loss plan than for his life-work of being a cardiologist helping people with heart problems.<span id="more-359"></span></p>
<p>The Adkins Diet is a 3 phase program</p>
<ul>
<li>Phase 1 of Adkins excludes ALL carbohydrates&hellip; no bread, rice, pasta, fruit, beer, beans, potatoes&hellip; NO carbohydrates, but all the protein and fat foods you want, including steak, chicken, ribs, sausage, eggs, fish, pork, etc.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Phase 2 of Adkins lets you begin to include just a few carbohydrate-containing foods like vegetables,&nbsp; beans, and whole grains, but in VERY restricted amounts.</li>
<li>Phase 3 of Adkins, which begins AFTER you&rsquo;ve lost all the weight you need to lose, is intended to last for life, and in phase 3 you can occasionally include other carbohydrates in small amounts.</li>
</ul>
<p>The diet is popular because it produces impressive initial weight loss, however the Adkins diet has become perhaps the most highly criticized diet ever for a variety of reasons, most of which have little to no basis in fact.</p>
<p><strong>Long term studies show a large percentage of people who lose weight on the Adkins Diet, maintain weight loss as long as they stay on the diet, but many have trouble staying on the diet and&nbsp;immediately regain weight when they go off the diet.</strong>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Biggest Problem with the Adkins Diet: 1) it is generally misunderstood and therefore not followed correctly; 2) There is too much emphasis on weight loss and not enough explanation or emphasis on keeping the weight off once you lose it.&nbsp; .</p>
<p><strong>Bottom Line: It takes 5 things to lose weight and keep it off for life without feeling hungry or deprived.</strong>&nbsp; Though somewhat controversial, the Adkins plan offers metabolically sound diet advice, however, the program falls short in at least three of the five things it takes for lasting weight loss success.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Weight Loss Diet Plan # 2 &#8211; South Beach Diet</strong> &#8211; created by Dr. Arthur Agatston, also a respected cardiologist, this popular diet is very similar to the Adkins 3 Phase Diet.&nbsp; Like the Adkins Diet, phase 1 restricts all carbohydrates; like Adkins, phase 2 reintroduces certain healthy carbohydrate foods like vegetables, salad and so on, and like Adkins, phase 3, after you lose the weight, you go on a restricted carbohydrate eating plan you stay on for life.&nbsp; There&#8217;s more to it, but that&#8217;s it in a nutshell.</p>
<p>This diet is strikingly similar to the Adkins Diet, but with more emphasis on all the food you can eat, and with less discussion of the metabolism involved. The South Beach Diet Involves no calorie counting or weighing of portions, which is a big positive.</p>
<p>The South Beach diet is very popular and most people maintain weight loss as long as they follow the diet.&nbsp; However, while there is nothing&nbsp;incorrect about the diet,&nbsp;the plan is incomplete in explaining each of the 5 factors that must be in place before you can reach a healthy body weight <strong>and easily maintain that weight for life</strong>.&nbsp; As such, it is common for people to lose weight, on the South Beach Diet,&nbsp;then drift off the diet and quickly regain the weight and then feel like they failed.</p>
<p>There is nothing wrong with this diet other than&nbsp;the program focuses too much on food and too little on other vitally important diet, nuitrition and lifestyle factors involved in losing weight, keeping it off, and becoming healthy and strong.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Weight Loss Diet Plan # 3- The Zone Diet:</strong> Created by microbiologist Barry Sears, the Zone diet, like Adkins and South Beach, was formulated around an accurate understanding of what causes the body to make and store fat, and what causes the body to burn stored fat for fuel.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Zone book was originally intended as a refresher course in human bio-chemistry for medical doctors who were making the tragic mistake of recommending low-fat diets for weight loss and for controlling diabetes.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Zone Diet boils down to getting about a third of your calories from lean protein foods, and two-thirds from fruits and vegetables with only very minor amounts of other carbohydrate-rich foods.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Biggest Problem With The Zone: The Zone offers sound diet and supplementation advice, however, like most other diet plans, the program provides no frame of reference or step-by-step strategy to make the kind of overall diet, nutrition and lifestyle changes it takes to lose weight and keep it off for life.&nbsp;</p>
<h3>If losing weight and keeping it off was easy everyone would do it and no one would be overweight.&nbsp; But quite the opposite is true.</h3>

<h4>Summary of All Diets</h4>
<p><strong>Low Fat Diets:</strong> Low fat diets are by definition high in carbohydrates and relatively low in protein.&nbsp; Common low fat diet foods include pasta salad; rice; potatoes; bread, cereal; beans; low-fat dairy products, fruit, vegetables; and only the leanest cuts of meat.&nbsp; Any of the above would be good props to point to while discussing this diet.</p>
<p><strong>Problem With Low Fat Diets:</strong> Low fat diets are based on the mistake idea that eating fat makes you fat, which is false.&nbsp; Eating fat does not make you fat anymore than eating sweets make you sweet or eating spicy food makes you spicy.&nbsp; The idea is absurd.</p>
<p>Bread, rice, pasta, etc, are very HIGH in carbohydrates and eating carbohydrates will make you fat&hellip; because carbohydrates are nothing but sugar molecules hooked together, see attachment.</p>
<p>A low fat, high carbohydrate diet causes a rise in blood sugar and causes your body to begin making and storing fat almost immediately.&nbsp;&nbsp; Bottom line &ndash; low fat diets make you fat.</p>
<p><strong>Low Sugar Diet:</strong>&nbsp; The GOLDEN KEY to a healthy body weight and good health is to learn to eat for blood sugar control&hellip; and eliminating anything obviously high in sugar from your diet is an excellent first step.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Just 2 soft drinks a day can add a pound of fat every 10 days.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Get the candy and soft drinks out of your diet and you will effortlessly drop a few pounds.&nbsp; Typically, people who consume sweets throughout the day are driven by raging nutrient deficiency and they will NOT be able to beat the deficiency with will power&hellip; they MUST get the nutrition they need.&nbsp; This topic is discussed in detail in the book, 5 Steps To Optimal Health.</p>
<p><strong>Low Carb Diet:</strong>&nbsp; Carbohydrates ARE sugar and too much sugar will make you fat and sick.&nbsp; With this in mind a low-carb diet is a step in the right direction, but that does not mean cut out all the carbs.&nbsp; You should get your carbohydrates primarily, if not exclusively, from fresh green and brightly colored vegetables and fresh non-tropical seasonal fruit.</p>

<p><strong>The best way to lose weight, or reach any goal, is;</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>DECIDE what you want</li>
<li>LEARN how to get it; 3) Make the necessary changes,</li>
<li>ACT, stay focused and stick to your game plan; and;</li>
<li>NEVER SELF SABOTAGE; just say no to anything&nbsp;that stops or prevents you from reaching your goal.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ol>

<li>Carbohydrate blocking pills make about as much sense as swallowing antidote so you can &lsquo;safely&rsquo; swig down poison.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Wholesale Fraud And Deceit Is Common In The Quick-Fix Weight Loss Industry</h4>
<p>From December 2008 to March 22, 2009 the <a href="http://www.fda.gov/cder/consumerinfo/weight_loss_products.htm">FDA has identified and banned 72 weight loss</a> dietary supplements tainted with &ldquo;undeclared active pharmaceutical agents&rdquo;, in other words prescription drugs.&nbsp; Not only are the prescription drugs undeclared and illegally added to over-the-counter diet pills, the undeclared drugs are often added in FAR GREATER amounts than FDA approves as safe in the actual prescription medication. And they still don&rsquo;t work .</p>
<p>These products do NOT produce lasting weight loss.&nbsp; In fact, study after study prove the vast majority of all people taking these products do not lose any weight at all!&nbsp; Of course that fun fact is never printed on the label, even though the studies are published in dozens of medical journals, some of which you can access for free online.</p>
<p><strong>Every year the FDA files fraud charges against companies selling miracle-in-a-bottle, quick fix weight loss junk that promise everything and deliver nothing EXCEPT increased health risk.</strong></p>
<p>Two weight loss supplement manufacturers, each doing over $50 million a year in sales, were recently shut down by the FDA.&nbsp; As it turned out, both companies had completely fabricated weight loss testimonies; they used fake medical endorsements, touched up photos, and they paid radio show hosts to lie about losing weight using their products.&nbsp; The scandal was so big it prompted the FCC to pass new regulations governing radio advertising.</p>
<p>One company sold a product that was LITERALLY made by dissolving gristle off chicken feet purchased from a slaughter house, in acid, bottling it, slapping a label on the bottle and marketing it as a miracle weight loss collagen protein drink guaranteed to speed up your metabolism and cause excess fat to melt off while your sleep!&nbsp;</p>
<p>At best, quick fix weight loss products are a complete, absolute, total waste of money.&nbsp; At worst, they may seriously damage your health.</p>
<h4>What About Prescription Diet Pills</h4>
<p>You&rsquo;re not overweight because you diet is deficient in prescription diet pills and you will never lose weight, keep it off and be healthy taking them.</p>
<p>Prescription weight loss drugs are expensive, dangerous and fail to produce lasting results.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Medical doctors who make their living prescribing drugs for weight loss are often considered charlatans by their peers because of overwhelming evidence that the &ldquo;pill approach&rdquo; to weight loss simply does not work.</p>
<p>Over 40 years of research, tracking thousands of people using prescription diet drugs for weight loss, documents that 9 out of 10 people who lose weight (not all do) GAIN IT ALL BACK PLUS MORE within a year or less after stopping the drugs.</p>
<p>Drug therapy ignores the underlying cause of weight gain.&nbsp; Drugs promote weight loss by artificial means and ignore the real cause of being overweight.</p>
<p>The Phen-Fen drugs have been used in Europe for over 60 years.&nbsp; Dozens of long-term studies tracking results for tens of thousands of patients show the overwhelming majority (over 90%) regains every pound plus more within 12 to 24 months after quitting the drug.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Bottom Line: DIET DRUGS ARE DANGEROUS &amp; DON&rsquo;T WORK!&nbsp; Given the 90% plus failure rate, its obvious prescription drugs fail to produce permanent weight loss.&nbsp;</p>
<h4>How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off</h4>
<p>To lose weight, reach a healthy-attractive body weight you enjoy and effortless maintain that weight for life you need three things.&nbsp;</p>

<li>Working knowledge of the basics of metabolism, in other words, what happens when you chew food and swallow&hellip; what causes you to make and store fat vs. what causes you to burn stored body fat and effortless maintain a normal-healthy weight.</li>

Viewers, often relaxing in an easy chair munching chips, watch as seriously overweight men and women weigh in weekly and log remarkable weight loss results, up to 20 to 30 pound lost in a single week!<span id="more-194"></span></p>
<p><strong><font size="2">Trouble In Weight Loss Paradise</font></strong></p>
<p>A recent Time Magazine article reported Ryan Benson, the season one winner, has regained 90 of the 120 pounds he lost during the competition. The article went on to describe contestants eating nothing but sugar-free Jell-O and asparagus for days, and wearing rubber suits in the sauna for hours just prior to weekly weigh-ins.</p>
<p>Despite best intentions, the unspoken message of the program is fatally flawed. Rapid weight loss is UNHEALTHY, UNSAFE, UNSUSTAINABLE and may result in serious metabolic disorder, raging nutritional deficiency and a damaged heart and besides that, no one is going to offer you a quarter of a million dollars to lose weight.</p>
<p><strong><font size="2">Biggest Loser Fatal Flaw #1 &ndash; The Wrong Motivation</font></strong></p>
<p>Contestants compete for prize money, which is fine, but if winning cash is the only real motivation, all but a few will lose interest sooner or later, and what about after the contest is over?</p>
<p>People who succeed at LASTING weight loss develop an inner drive and motivation based on a personal desire to be healthy and to look and feel their best. And they want that for themselves regardless of prize money, swimsuit season or anything else.</p>
<p>It&rsquo;s no fault of The Biggest Loser that money motivates people to do silly things they&rsquo;d never dream of otherwise, like starving for weeks and wearing a rubber suit in the sauna, but the fact remains most will never have the chance to win money and be a TV star by losing weight.</p>
<p><strong><font size="3">Biggest Loser Fatal Flaw #2</font></strong></p>
<p>The number one reason people fail to lose weight and keep it off is they attack fat, (which is a symptom of an underlying problem), and have no idea of the real reason why they&rsquo;re overweight, which for most, is hormonal imbalance caused primarily by poor food choices. And by the way, simply cutting calories NEVER solves this problem.</p>

<p>Biggest Loser contestants go extraordinary lengths to starve fat off, melt it off, exercise it off, and do anything they can to get rid of the fat. And they lose weight. But like EVERYONE who loses weight the wrong way, when starvation and hours-a-day exercise stops, the weight piles back on with a vengeance.</p>
<p>The few Biggest Loser contestants who manage to keep the weight off more than a few months after the contest, either maintain extreme weight loss measures, which is difficult at best, OR figure out an approach to diet and nutrition that keeps fat-burning metabolism actives and minimizes fat production and storage in your body.</p>
<p><strong><font size="2">The Danger Is Real</font></strong></p>
<p>The ups and downs of roller coaster weight gain and loss is devastating to your health. Each round of weight gain and weight loss reduces lean muscle mass, slows metabolism, weakens the heart and makes you more susceptible to illness and disease.</p>
<p>The Biggest Loser Program is not responsible for the insane lengths contestants go to for the chance to win a quarter of a million dollars, but the fact remains extreme weight loss puts your health at risk, and at the very least there should be disclaimers to that effect warning views NOT to try this at home.</p>

<p>You probably know someone who tried&nbsp;to lose weight, but no matter what they do, they can&rsquo;t get the weight off, or can&#8217;t&nbsp;keep it off.</p>
<p>Of all the people I&rsquo;ve personally helped lose weight, Sarah is one of the most memorable&hellip; not because she lost 64 pounds she couldn&rsquo;t lose before, but because of all the people I&rsquo;ve worked with, Sarah was by far the most desperate to lose weight.<span id="more-100"></span></p>
<p>Sarah was 71 pounds overweight the day she phoned me on the advice of her doctor, who was familiar with my work, and would send people struggling to lose weight my way from time to time.</p>
<p><strong>I&rsquo;ve never seen another human being so unhappy about being overweight.</strong></p>
<p>Three years earlier Sarah thought she had the world by the tail. But on this day she was a mess; in terrible shape emotionally and physically, and practically insane over the fact that no matter how hard she tried she couldn&rsquo;t seem to lose weight and keep it off.</p>
<p><strong>People gain weight for all kinds of reasons. Sarah&rsquo;s reason was emotional. The divorce was unexpected, messy and sent Sarah into an emotional free fall.</strong></p>
<p>Feeling betrayed and cheated, Sarah was in pain. And to ease the pain she ate&hellip; and ate&hellip; and ate. On her way to hitting rock bottom emotionally, Sarah gained 71 pounds of unwanted, unattractive, and according to her doctor, extremely unhealthy fat.</p>
<p>No one gains 71 pounds without noticing and Sarah noticed, but at the time she just didn&rsquo;t care. Food soothed the raw emotions that clawed her psyche. When she ate, at least for the moment, she forgot about the train wreck her personal life had become.</p>
<p>As time passed, and the hurt ran it&rsquo;s course, Sarah decided it was time to get on with life. Her first step was to lose weight&hellip; a LOT of weight.</p>
<p><strong>Sarah thought losing weight would be easy; after all, it&rsquo;s just a matter of calories, right? How complicated can it be?</strong></p>
<p>Common sense and a little will power is all it takes to lose weight and keep it off,&nbsp;right?</p>
<p><em>If only it were that easy!</em></p>
<p><strong>Relying on common sense for weight loss&nbsp;usually fails because common sense, leads to common results and common results for weight loss are typically terrible.</strong></p>
<p>It&nbsp;didn&#8217;t matter how much Sarah wanted to lose weight and it didn&#8217;t matter how hard she tried,&nbsp;unless you go about it the right way you simply can&rsquo;t succeed, and the harder you try, the more frustrated you become.&nbsp; And so it was with Sarah.</p>
<p><strong>Sarah tried to lose weight&nbsp;the way most people&nbsp;go about&nbsp;it&nbsp;and you can guess what happened.</strong></p>
<p>And when Sarah&rsquo;s common sense, popular weight loss advice&nbsp;approach failed, she fell into the trap of moving from one thing to the next, pinning hope on whatever sounded good at the moment, praying for miracle and losing confidence by the day.</p>
<p>If you&rsquo;ve ever even remotely experienced the kind of torture Sarah put herself through, my heart goes out to you.</p>
<h3><strong>Losing Weight And Keeping It Off Is Like Solving A Math Problem&#8230; There Really Is Only One Right Answer</strong></h3>
<p>Done right, losing weight is a wonderful, satisfying experience that leaves you stronger, healthier and more confident.</p>
<p>But try to lose weight the wrong way and only two possibilities exist; 1) either you don&rsquo;t lose any weight, or, like Sarah; 2) you lose some but quickly regain it all back plus more, then get frustrated, and then try again.</p>
<p>At first, Sarah was confident her common sense approach would work, but after two long years of trying, Sarah&rsquo;s body fat percentage, and her weight had zoomed up higher than ever, right along with her blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides.</p>
<p>All Sarah accomplished following popular, common sense weight loss advice was to lose some weight and gain it back several times until she down-regulated her metabolism to the point where continued weight loss seemed impossible.</p>
<h3><strong>The Science Of Weight Loss Is Real <br />
Everything Else Is Guesswork</strong></h3>
<p>Sarah didn&rsquo;t know that losing weight and regaining it drives your body fat percentage up, and slows your metabolism down.&nbsp;&nbsp; Every time you&nbsp;lose weight and gain it back, it becomes more difficult to lose weight again,and much easier to gain weight&#8230;&nbsp;even if you eat less.</p>
<p><strong>If the lose-gain cycle keeps up long enough, eventually you reach a point where you can eat like a bird, not lose an ounce, and still have a tendency to gain.</strong></p>
<p>This is where Sarah was the first time we spoke. Her well-meaning but misinformed approach had literally&nbsp;locked her in the prison of an overweight body and she hated every second of it.</p>
<p>I don&rsquo;t know where you are in your weight loss odyssey, but if you&rsquo;ve ever experienced the vicious lose-gain, lose-gain roller coaster you can imagine Sarah&rsquo;s frustration.</p>
<p><strong>Sarah wanted what every woman wants, to be healthy and look great, but she didn&rsquo;t know how to accomplish it, and the harder she tried and the more she followed popular weight loss advice, the worse things became.</strong></p>
<p>She had no idea how to reach a healthy, attractive body weight&nbsp;and regain the confident smile andpoise that is so natural when you&nbsp;see yourself in&nbsp;the&nbsp;mirror and KNOW you look good.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Over two years Sarah had spent thousands of dollars trying to lose weight and keep it off. Nothing worked. All she had to show for her efforts was more body fat than ever, a pile of credit card receipts, and frustration.</p>
<p><strong>By the time Sarah and I met, she was beginning to believe she was doomed to be overweight forever.</strong></p>
<p>To make matters worse, she was becoming increasingly desperate because she had hopes of meeting someone nice, and eventually remarrying. But Sarah honestly believed she would never be attractive to a man again, until she lost weight.</p>
<p>Sarah was a mess. She was at the proverbial last-stop just before giving up completely and plunging head first into depression.</p>
<p>Fortunately, Sarah&rsquo;s doctor referred her to me.</p>
<h3><strong>If You Had Three Wishes&#8230;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />
</strong></h3>
<p>Shortly after Sarah joined my coaching program, we played the magic genie game.</p>
<p><strong>I asked Sarah what she would wish for if a magic genie appeared and offered to grant her three wishes. Her answer surprised me.</strong></p>
<p>Sarah said she didn&rsquo;t want three wishes, only one.</p>
<p>She said if she could just lose the weight she wanted to lose and get back to looking as good and feeling as well as she did before, she&rsquo;d take care everything else herself and save the magic for something she couldn&rsquo;t figure out on her own.</p>
<p><strong>The genie never appeared, they never do, but as it turned out Sarah didn&rsquo;t need magic or miracles to lose weight and regain her attractive figure and confident smile.</strong></p>
